New Grad Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Summary

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide nursing services to the inmate population at the Federal Transfer Center (FTC) in Oklahoma City. This role supports the Health Services Department by delivering direct patient care in a secure correctional healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and support pill line medication administration

• Deliver medications to inmate housing units

• Perform basic nursing functions, including:

  • Vital signs

  • Blood pressure monitoring

  • EKGs

  • Dressing changes

  • Urine specimen collection

• Accurately document all patient care in the BOP Electronic Medical Record (BEMR)

• Assist with other nursing duties as assigned

• Support training and onboarding of newly contracted LPNs

• Maintain strict confidentiality of inmate medical records in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974

• Follow all BOP Health Services policies, institutional mandates, and security procedures

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted LPN license (state-issued)

• Current CPR certification

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently

• Knowledge of:

  • Nursing techniques and procedures

  • Infection control and safety principles

  • Use of medical equipment and automated systems

• Ability to work effectively with physicians, peers, and inmate populations

Schedule & Shifts

• Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

  • Weekdays (Mon–Fri)

  • Weekends (Sat–Sun)

• Evening Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

  • Weekdays (Mon–Fri)

  • Weekends (Sat–Sun)
