The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) represents the best interests of the child in a variety of ways. Must have a heart for children, no previous training or legal background is required. The Guardian ad Litem is an: Information Gatherer : The GAL collects information and interviews family, foster parents, teachers and any other persons involved in the child’s life. Monitor : The GAL visits with the child or children, on their assigned case, at a minimum of once a month and advises the Program of the status of the child and updates regarding the child.
