The Position (Summary):
The Machinist 2 will be responsible for performing set-up and operation of all manual machines and the ability to create minor CNC programs and edit various CNC programs (Mills, Lathes, & Grinders). The successful candidate should be able to create set-ups and machine needed parts to an end product that meets or exceeds design specifications.
Minimum Essential Requirements:
- Safety

- Works safely and assess all situations before proceeding
- Keeps work area clean and free from hazards
- Uses guarding provided and does all necessary pre-work checks
- Quality
- Experience with inspecting parts and materials used in the production process are free from quality defects
- Demonstrated ability to accurately use and ensure calibration of measuring tools to measure dimensions using Calipers, Bore Gauges, Micrometers, Thread gauge, Depth Gauge, Height Gauges, Gage Blocks, Pin Gages, and Hardness Testers
- Read and interpret schematics and drawings, including geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, communicating with Engineers as necessary
- Demonstrated skill sets that produces quality documentation, including non-conformance reporting
- Machine Product to Required Specification
- Demonstrated experience in the ability to read and process 2-d detail prints
- Create and document straight forward programs, where needed
- Adjust machine tools to meet specifications, including cutter compensation and tool diameter differences
- Record proper set-up documentation
- Inspection & Documentation
- Ability to inspect in-process product and ensure product meets requirements
- Document measurements on inspection sheets, when required
- Knowledge of Machine Tools, Equipment, Materials, and Inspection Methods
- Moderate experience running jobs in work centers, whether the work center is a lathe, mill, grinder, or other piece of equipment
- Strong working knowledge of conventional machining techniques including tool use, speeds and feeds
- Demonstrated experience with machining different materials including different grades of steel, aluminum, brass, PVC, UHMW, etc.
- Strong working knowledge using traditional inspection equipment such as height gages, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers
Preferred Key Requirements:
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Experience with Mazak machine tools and Mazatrol is a plus
- Inspection experience
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience is a plus
- Tire/rubber industry experience is a plus
- CAM software experience, SolidCAM experience PREFERRED
Experience and Education:
- Experience: 3-10 years' experience in a machine shop position
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication
Technology:
- Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Position will require utilization of Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office Suite
