Workplace: ITV London, White City + Hybrid (2 to 3 days in the office per week)

The team..

The Group Legal team at ITV plc provides specialist advice and support to the business (including to the Studios and Media & Entertainment divisions) in connection with general commercial and operational matters; corporate transactions; data protection; litigation; technology; and compliance, competition and regulatory matters.

The role..

We’re looking for a commercially minded Legal Advisor to join ITV on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Director of Corporate & Legal Affairs, you will provide commercial legal advice and support to various ITV Group teams, including Procurement, Finance and HR on both operational matters and group-wide projects. The role focuses primarily on drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, primarily third-party supplier agreements, with a particular focus on separation activities in advance of the divestment of ITV’s Media & Entertainment business.

This is a varied and hands-on role supporting supplier lifecycle management and contracting. You will advise on a broad range of agreements and commercial matters, ensuring legal risk is managed pragmatically while enabling the business to move at pace. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll play a key role in delivering joined-up, commercially sound legal solutions.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal support on material third party supplier arrangements with a key focus on separation activities in advance of the divestment of ITV’s Media & Entertainment business.
  • Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts (predominantly third party supplier contracts).
  • Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks within contracts (including liability, indemnities, warranties and termination provisions).
  • Advising on contract interpretation and legal risk analysis.
  • Coordinating contract approval and execution processes.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior internal stakeholders.
  • Providing commercial legal advice and support to Group-level matters and strategic projects as required.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Qualified lawyer (UK or equivalent qualification) with PQE obtained in private practice or in-house.
  • Extensive commercial law expertise and experience gained in a top tier private practice firm or in-house legal team.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation experience of commercial contracts (particularly third party supplier agreements).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Commercially astute and solution-oriented, with a pragmatic approach to risk.
  • Excellent communicator, able to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Confident working across cross-functional teams including Procurement, Data Protection, Finance, Tax and Cyber Security.
  • Strong understanding of data protection and IP principles.
  • Able to balance legal rigour with commercial realities and business priorities.
  • Highly organised, capable of managing multiple contracts and competing priorities.
  • A collaborative team player who can command credibility across senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable working occasional longer hours when business demands require.

Please note, on occasion we may receive a very large volume of applications which means applications for a role may close earlier than the referenced closing date. We’d encourage you to apply as soon as possible if interested.
