Security Operations Coordinator (Richmond, VA)

The Security Operations Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and managing daily site activities and representing Corporate Security on project teams. The Security Operations Coordinator has day-to-day responsibility for security operations and ensuring that all security services provided by third-party contractors are well managed.

**Position Accountabilities **

  • Stays abreast of changes to federal and state banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the company.
  • Advise Corporate Assets teammates on security related issues.
  • Serve as the primary contact representing Corporate Security for projects, space, reconfigurations and moves.
  • Partner with Consumer Administration and Network Operations on anything security related to ATMS or other customer equipment.
  • Use knowledge of the various security disciplines in physical security to specify appropriate requirements for various projects.
  • Develop, review, and coordinate a wide range of Corporate Security documentation.
  • Assist in the design, installation and operation, programming, testing, and acceptance of the primary physical security technology, including, but not limited to access control, video management, GPS tracking and intrusion detection systems in conjunction with project planning efforts.
  • Design and oversee implementation of security systems during new construction, space reconfigurations and moves. Specify equipment to be installed, coordinate with vendor, project manager and internal security resources.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain service and equipment pricing for project budgeting purposes.
  • Inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections to evaluate and ensure all security countermeasures are in place.
  • Update drawings to maintain accurate records of existing security equipment.
  • Respond to security related findings and recommendations resulting from physical security assessments and coordinate mitigation measures.
  • Develop and implement corporate security training for bank personnel, including bank policies, equipment operations, loss prevention, investigations, and oversee security awareness.
  • Analyze corporate needs and suggest creative ideas to enhance a comprehensive corporate-wide (long and short-term) security and loss prevention program.
  • Assist the Corporate Security Officer in developing written policies and procedures for the Corporate Security Program.
  • Manage the contract security officer program. Coordinate with vendor management to ensure ongoing staff training and development. Review and approve contract security post orders. Manage, in conjunction with vendor, security officer schedules, hiring, terminations, etc.
  • Ensure Corporate Security policies and procedures are followed and adhered to. Communicate with management and Human Resources as appropriate when violations are identified.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Assets teammates to create solutions that support the strategic direction of the bank. Request feedback from all and keeps all well informed.
  • Available on call after hours for alarms and emergencies and assists with service ticket processing. Act as back up to other Corporate Security positions
  • Attend continuing education training seminars for physical security professionals.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corporate Security Officer.
    • Provide leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Physical Security Operations Center (PSOC), ensuring effective monitoring, incident response, and escalation across corporate offices, branches, and ATM environments.
    • Manage and coordinate contract security officers and/or proprietary guard force, including reviews of scheduling, post coverage, training, performance management, and adherence to bank security standards.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for SOC operations, branch security support, alarm response, and corporate facility security.
    • Monitor and assess security systems (access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection platforms) to ensure operational reliability and timely issue resolution.
    • Serve as the primary backup to the Security Systems Administrator, assisting with system administration, troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and vendor management.
    • Support compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory standards related to physical security, customer safety, and asset protection.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., branch operations, ATM service vendors, law enforcement) to ensure integrated and effective security operations.
    • Conduct operational reviews and inspections of security officer posts and PSOC to identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
    • Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and security trends to inform leadership and continuous improvement efforts.

Position Qualification

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 - 6 years of directly related Physical Security, and/or Loss Prevention experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Security Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred.
  • Three or more years of banking/retail experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing physical security projects and security system design.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of security systems (access control, video management systems and intrusion detection) required.
  • Advanced communication (written and oral) and organizational skills; ability to interact effectively with other departments and all levels of the organization, including executive management; and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and training to other department members, vendor partners and contract employees.
  • Project management experience. Organized and experienced in management of multiple related projects. Ability to plan work and organize materials and equipment for specific projects.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) principles.
  • Solid interpersonal, teambuilding, and networking skills.
  • High motivation, desire for professional growth and continuous improvement, and a sincere willingness to learn.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
  • Ability to manage time and to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.

Must be able and willing to travel to all bank locations and planned locations as needed.
