Veterinary Surgical Technician

Are you an experienced Veterinary Technician with surgical and anesthesia expertise looking to grow in a specialty hospital setting? Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC) Knoxville is seeking a skilled Veterinary Surgical Technician to support our Surgery Department.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside board-certified surgeons and emergency clinicians , refine advanced skills, and manage complex surgical cases in a fast-paced, high-level veterinary environment.
Schedule
- Monday – Thursday (Day Shift)
- Rotating on-call weekends (once fully trained)

Key Responsibilities:
Anesthesia & Surgical Support
- Administer and monitor anesthesia for soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency surgeries
- Perform anesthetic calculations and develop patient-specific protocols
- Monitor ECG, blood pressure, SpO₂, ETCO₂, and anesthetic gases
- Operate ventilators and advanced monitoring equipment
- Surgical Assistance
- Prepare patients (IV catheter placement, sterile prep, positioning)
- Maintain sterile technique and assist during surgery
- Support advanced and specialty procedures
Perioperative & Critical Care
- Monitor recovery and respond to anesthetic complications
- Assist in stabilization of emergency surgical patients
Documentation & Teamwork
- Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
- Collaborate with surgeons, ER doctors, and technicians
- Participate in ongoing training and skill development
Here is What You Will Bring to the Position:
- Completion of a two-year or four-year American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program from a community college, college, or university
- License certification varies by state
- Externship experience
