Life Insurance Suspense Analyst

Equitable is looking for an experienced Suspense Analyst to join our Life Insurance team. The Life Insurance Suspense Analyst is responsible for managing and reconciling suspense accounts related to life insurance initial premium payments. This role ensures timely identification, research, resolution, and application of unapplied or misapplied funds while maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements. The analyst may engage with Case Management as well as Accounting and Billing to resolve discrepancies and improve suspense resolution processes.
What You’ll Be Doing

Research, analyze, and resolve unapplied, misapplied, or unidentified premium payments in suspense accounts.

Apply payments accurately to new and inforce policy accounts according to established procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Investigate discrepancies between records, and policy administration systems.

Document findings and resolutions clearly and thoroughly.

Monitor aging suspense items and prioritize resolution of high-risk or time-sensitive transactions.

Assist with month-end reconciliation and reporting.

Identify root causes of recurring suspense issues and recommend process improvements.

Ensure adherence to SOX controls, audit requirements, and insurance compliance standards.

Additional Responsibilities / Flex Coverage

Provide cross-functional and backup support for related life insurance processes, including Paid Change and Term Conversion , during periods of high work volume or the absence of key analysts or as requested.

Assist with reviewing, processing, and reconciling transactions associated with Paid Change and Term Conversion requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policy provisions.

Prioritize and re-balance workload as needed to support business continuity and service-level commitments

Collaborate with leadership to identify temporary workflow adjustments when demand increases.

Maintain proper documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of work across functions and communicate as needed.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule , with an on–site presence of 2–3 days per week in our Charlotte, NC office, combining flexibility with team collaboration.
The base salary range for this position is $48,000 - $68,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.
