Legal Assistant
The Firm
Grace Lawyers Pty Limited is a specialist strata, community and company title legal service provider. We
specialise in dispute resolution, property, insurance, debt collection and litigation, building and
construction law, insolvency and commercial transactions.
The Role
We are currently looking for an experienced, energetic and switched on Legal Assistant to fill the busy and
exciting role assisting our litigation legal team.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to: -
• Drafting correspondence, Costs Agreements and Costs Disclosures
• Preparing court documents and other related documents and forms, e.g. by- laws, sales contracts
• Filing court documents
• Liaising directly with clients, court registries, LPI and other parties
• Dictaphone typing
• Maintaining files
• Maintaining the database and updating spreadsheets
• Opening and closing files
• Assisting a team of 4 or more litigation lawyers
• Arranging meetings
• Compiling briefs for barristers
• Compiling statements and affidavits (electronic and physical)
• Draft billing guides
• Undertake general office duties when required
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong desire to provide top quality support, to always strive
for excellence and to develop and progress in the process. You are known for your positive attitude,
confident and cheerful personality, flexibility and your team spirit.
To be successful in securing this, involved and challenging position, you must have the following:
• Proven experience as a legal assistant (2 + years). General litigation and insurance law will be
looked upon as an advantage.
• Well-developed time management skills and the ability to juggle effectively a large workload of
varied tasks and the support of 4 + solicitors.
• The ability to build and maintain strong work relationships with team members. Be a keen team
player and be prepared to assist others.
• Proactive approach to work.
• Problem solving ability.
• Ability to work autonomously when required with minimal direction.
• Strong understanding of legal terminology.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills.
• Advanced skills in MS Office.
• Experience using LexisNexis Affinity (would be an advantage).
This position is suitable only for a truly highly qualified and experienced legal assistant with extensive
experience in litigation and insolvency. You must enjoy a busy role, be well organised and able to complete
work within tight timeframes, use your initiative, enjoy a degree of autonomy and a high degree of
responsibility in your role.
