Quality Metrology Engineer

at Bell Flight

We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering. And we want you.

We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.

This position is on site in Fort Worth at Bell’s Rotors and Composite Center. Could occasionally assist other DFW facilities as needed.

Quality Operations Team

Review current inspection capabilities to identify gaps and opportunities for improving efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability, and develop standardized inspection technique sheets for process setup and execution of metrology inspections used for product acceptance.

Identify and integrate new measurement technologies and methodologies to support manufacturing and customer needs, including on-machine inspection, equipment advancements, and alignment with modern industry standards such as ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Quality Metrology Engineer

· Perform precise measurements using portable metrology systems (Leica laser trackers, Creaform scanners, Romer arms, Keyence systems, etc.), apply sound data acquisition techniques, and develop/verify results using manual measuring methods.

· Perform data reduction and post‑processing using Spatial Analyzer, Polyworks, PC‑DMIS, and Creaform OS; create graphical and numerical reports; and conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) per AIAG MSA Manual and ISO 9001:2015 to evaluate and improve measurement system accuracy and reliability.

· Work closely with internal and external customers to assess needs and develop tailored metrology approaches aligned with project objectives, while properly evaluating and interpreting engineering models, GD&T intent, and design specifications using CATIA V5/V6, 3DX, SolidWorks, and similar software.

· Collaborate with Technical Training to create formal training programs for equipment familiarization and operation, while deploying and facilitating training and mentoring inspection personnel on machine usage and post‑processing reporting.

· Develop solutions to moderately complex problems requiring ingenuity and innovative thinking and assist in developing fabrication/build processes and standards to enhance quality and efficiency.
