Senior Accountant

at Aerostar International


Experienced Accountant at a Senior Level able to assume lead responsibility for various accounting functions. Will perform hands-on functional duties, as well as, providing supervision to both accounting professional and clerical employees in a wide variety of accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will establish and maintain strong relationships with the Accounting Manager and CFO, as well as, personnel both within and outside the company as required. Interface with independent auditors and government compliance organizations (e.g., DCAA and DCMA) as required.

Working Procedure:

Lead Responsibility for critical accounting functions including:

  • Accounts Receivable - review billings, prepare complex bills, work with programs and contracts on billing and collection issues
  • Inventory - work with programs, material management and purchasing to ensure GAAP compliance, reconciliation with stock status, cycle count and financial support on inventory issues
  • Accounts Payable - supervise vouchering and cash disbursements, work with purchasing and other departments as needed to ensure timely and accurate payments; prepare month-end accrual entry; ensure timely and accurate reporting of required state and federal requirements
  • Monthly and Year End Closing - analyze program revenue recognition, Costpoint processing, and preparation on Internal Financial Statements
  • Cash Management - interface with bank on financial transactions Including letters of credit, revolving credit line and other debt

Interacting With Computers -- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, or process information.

  • Develop or maintain budgeting databases
  • Use accounting software (e.g., Costpoint and FAS)
  • Use computers to enter, access and retrieve financial data
  • Use spreadsheet software including Excel

Processing Information -- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

  • Compile data for financial reports
  • Compute financial data
  • Compile tax schedules and support for federal, state and local tax compliance
  • Note discrepancies in financial records
  • Verify bank or financial transactions

Analyzing Data or Information -- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.

  • Analyze budgets
  • Analyze financial data
  • Analyze financial information to project future revenues or expense
  • Conduct financial investigations
  • Perform general financial analysis

Other responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of department goals and objectives
  • Recommend, implement and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations
  • Respond to inquiries; research and suggest solutions to department related problems; serves as liaison with other departments to resolve day-to-day administrative and operational issues that may occur
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to Junior and Clerical Accountants as required
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.

**Experience Requirement: ** Three to five years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Proficient in Deltek Costpoint Accounting Software. Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices including Governmental and Defense Contracts, GAAP and federal and state financial and reporting regulations. Skilled in the use of computers in a Windows-based operating environment particularly Excel and Word applications.

In compliance with state and local laws, the salary range for this role is $90,000-$125,000. The range provided is a general guideline and good faith estimate representative of all experience levels but is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. TCOM considers several factors when extending an offer including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate's experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
