Job Description
Position
The Project Engineer – Stringing is responsible for managing the planning,
coordination, and execution of stringing activities within transmission line
construction projects. This role ensures project execution aligns with safety
standards, technical specifications, quality requirements, and schedule
commitments, contributing to the successful delivery of high-voltage
transmission infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement detailed stringing project plans, schedules, and methodologies in alignment with overall construction programs.
- Supervise and coordinate stringing operations, ensuring safe and efficient installation of conductors, earth wires, and OPGW.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures to ensure milestones are achieved. Enforce compliance with safety protocols, environmental requirements, and quality standards during stringing operations.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, including the tracking of costs and preparation of progress claims where required
- Resolve technical issues related to stringing equipment, methods, and alignment tolerances.
- Prepare project documentation, including method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, and daily/weekly progress reports
- Develop a program for the scope of works including staging,
- Guide and approve setup of tower erection, stringing methods to ensure proper safety and timely execution of work at the site.
- Prepare Preliminary Single Line Diagram (SLD) and reviewing substation drawings and designs.
- Providing expertise in tower erection, retrofitting works, stringing works, template/probe setting works for the foundation of the transmission line
- Assist in supervising final stringing and commissioning stages, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Chartered Civil Engineering degree
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role working across 400KV transmission line projects
- Demonstrated experience executing new lines in-excess of 200km in length
- Proven experience in transmission line construction with a strong focus on stringing operations
- Experience across construction, electricity, and renewable energy industries.
- Demonstrated experience HV and EHV SWITCHGEAR
- Exposure to Surveying of High Voltage Transmission Line
- Demonstrated experience in the feasibility, planning, design and construction of overhead lines.
- Renewable Energy Systems & Grid Connections exposure
- Familiarity with Australian Standards, utility guidelines, and relevant industry codes
