Job Description
JOB TITLE: Micro Mold Production Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
FLSA: ** Non Exempt **
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor facilitates efficient manufacturing of micro molded plastic parts by training, directing, coaching and supervising Production Workers on their assigned shift. Uses established quality processes and procedures to meet or exceed customer requirements.** **
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates and assigns production tasks to ensure on time delivery of products to customers. Facilitates effective communication of all production issues with the other production shifts, Production Scheduling and with the Tool Room.
- Organizes workflow and duties for employees and equipment. Makes production decisions, to ensure efficient use of equipment, raw material and labor. These decisions are based on requirements dictated by the production schedule and information displayed in IQMS. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineer to identify and implement continuous improvement projects.
- Gives mold performance input on all new tooling, to Tool Room, Quality Control, and Engineering and production manager as necessary.
- Ensures operators are adequately trained for the tasks that they are performing. Ensures work instructions to complete tasks are followed. Ensures all relevant data is being recorded.
- Works with HR in administering personnel and attendance policies for employees supervised. Conducts or provides input for employee performance appraisals as required.
- Makes decisions on production problems and communicates these decisions to Management on a timely basis.
- Works closely with Production and Scheduling to ensure on-time delivery of finished goods and raw materials utilizing both MRPII and Kanban systems.
- Develops and expands ongoing knowledge of plastic materials to become proficient and capable of using past experience to make informed processing decisions.
- Enforces all building safety and security guidelines as designated by Management.
- Attends appropriate meetings as necessary to help solve customer complaints, production issues and design problems or conditions that would limit the efficient use of machines and tools.
- Works closely with other Production Supervisors. Communicates ongoing tasks, responsibilities or personnel issues to ensure adequate supervision when not in the building.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Education/Experience _. _High school education coursework or GED required. Experience or training in manufacturing using quality systems. Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment to monitor quality.
- Computer Skills _. _Ability to read and understand Real Time, Inventory and Production Scheduling screens in IQMS. Ability to perform basic keyboarding.
- Language Skills . Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and short correspondence with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to effectively present information to other employees, in one-on-one and small group situations
- ** Mathematical Skills** _. _Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand specification drawings for inspection purposes.
- Reasoning Ability _. _Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables. Ability to follow simple verbal instructions.
- Other Skills and Abilities . Willingness to attend classes or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills.
- Supervisory Responsibilities _. _Direct work tasks to others in manufacturing. Mentors and trains employees in a team environment. Conducts and provides input for employee reviews as required.
- Physical Demands _. _While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit/stand and use hand to manipulate very small parts or tweezers. Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs and edges. Frequent movement throughout the facility is required. Normal or corrected to normal vision is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use microscope and adjust focus. May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs.
- Work Environment _. _The duties of this job are executed in a climate-controlled environment with few temperature or humidity extremes. Noise levels will vary from very low to moderate depending on the location that the work is performed within the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of safety glasses is required.
