Performs routine maintenance and general repairs to all DOT vehicles and equipment. Diagnoses and makes repairs to air brake systems. Rebuilds and install engines, cylinder heads, transmissions and rear ends. Replaces injectors, injector pumps, timing chains and belts, and distributors. Overhauls starters, alternators, carburetors, and other serviceable components. Makes repairs and/or replace all steering components in vehicles and equipment. Uses an electric welder to make metal repairs to mowers, tractors, and other vehicles and/or equipment. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours on 12-hour shifts.
