AI Design Intern

at Surface Labs

Surface Labs is a YC-backed AI platform that processes $40M+ in inbound pipeline for B2B companies. We're building a small but scrappy creative team and need a design intern who can move fast, use AI tools natively, and produce brand-quality work across every channel we touch.

What you'll do

- Design social assets, LinkedIn visuals, ad creatives, and landing page graphics

- Build out brand templates and a design system for marketing use cases

- Work directly with the growth team to concept and produce campaign visuals

- Use AI tools (Midjourney, Runway, Adobe Firefly, etc.) to accelerate production

- Turn product screenshots and data into compelling visuals that explain what we do

- Contribute to the overall look and feel of withsurface.com

We're looking for

- A strong visual portfolio — ideally with brand or startup work

- Proficiency in Figma; bonus if you've worked with Framer or React

- Comfortable using AI image/design tools in a real workflow, not just experimenting

- Understanding of what makes B2B SaaS marketing effective (what converts vs. what looks pretty)

- Ability to absorb a brand voice and produce on-brand work without heavy supervision

- Some exposure to technical products — you don't need to code, but you should understand what AI agents, lead ops, or CRMs do

Nice to have

Motion graphics basics, video editing, web design, Framer, Adobe CC, B2B SaaS experience

How to stand out

Create one original design asset for Surface Labs — a social post, ad creative, landing page section, email header, or anything else you think would represent the brand well. Use our website at withsurface.com as your source material to understand the product and visual identity. Format, medium, and style are entirely up to you. Share it alongside your portfolio when you apply.

There's no right answer. We want to see how you think about our brand, not how well you follow a spec.
