AI Engineer

We’re hiring for our first AI Engineer. Someone who’s excited to own and build all things AI at Coast. You’ll be responsible for designing and building features that make it faster and more powerful to create functional demos. You should have strong instincts for both AI-powered product experiences and the underlying technical systems to make them real.

What you’ll work on:

• Design and implement agentic workflows that help users generate UI layouts, flows, and content automatically
• Build AI-powered copilots that assist with creating components, writing code, and refining interfaces
• Implement RAG systems that leverage documentation, design systems, and component libraries
• Optimize for speed, determinism, and quality across creative and structured AI outputs
• Push the boundaries of what’s possible in an AI-first design + build environment

You might be a fit if you’ve:

• Built AI features for design tools (e.g. auto-layout, design-to-code, style transfer)
• Created developer copilots (e.g. natural language to UI, code completion, intelligent suggestions)
• Worked with vector graphics, color palettes, or typography AI
• Integrated AI into design systems, no-code tools, or IDEs
• Used GPT-4, Claude 3+, and open-source models in production
• Built advanced prompt-engineered workflows that balance creativity and accuracy
• Worked with ASTs, design tokens, or component trees
• Made AI outputs context-aware (e.g. understanding canvas or code state)

Bonus if you’ve:

• Experience with semantic embeddings for search and retrieval
• Contributed to or built internal tooling for prompt testing and LLM evaluation
• A strong product sense and love building intuitive UI/UX alongside designers
