Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Therapist

Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Therapist will provide advanced respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients within Women’s and Children’s services. Responsible for delivering high‑acuity clinical support, managing specialized respiratory equipment, and collaboration with physicians and nursing teams to ensure safe, evidence‑based care. The role requires technical proficiency, sound clinical judgment, and a strong commitment to patient and family education.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver and assess respiratory therapies for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients using independent clinical judgment.
  • Manage ventilators and specialty devices in NICU, PICU, and adult med‑surg areas, ensuring competency within required timelines.
  • Participate in high‑risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, rapid response, and code teams.
  • Perform arterial, capillary, and line‑based blood gas sampling and analysis per policy.
  • Document all care accurately in the EMR and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Clean, assemble, and conduct safety checks on respiratory therapy equipment, including neonatal transport systems.
  • Educate patients, families, and clinical staff on respiratory therapies, equipment, and care processes.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support care planning, patient stabilization, and transfers.
  • Participate in department improvement initiatives, competency programs, and continuing education.
