What you'll be doing as a Painter Aircraft & Maintenance A
Applies dope, lacquer, paint, and other finishing material to finish or
refinish aircraft, equipment, and facilities.
• Prepares surfaces for painting by removing all foreign substances, removes
old or chipped paint.
• Masks surfaces not to be painted.
• Applies primers and fillers and rubs intermediate coats to assure smooth and
uniforms coating to avoid streaks and blemishes.
• Must be able to match colors for spot or repair jobs.
• May prepare and mix paints to desired colors and consistencies.
• Polishes final coat with wax or polishing compound.
• Does rework as required.
• Performs lettering with stencils.
Skills you bring to this role
Paints, primers, lacquers, enamels, varnishes, and thinners.
• Spray guns, pressure pots, air hoses, rollers and brushes.
• Templates, trammel points, rules and measuring tapes, and stencil cutting
machines, etc.
