The Director of Mission Operations is responsible for facilitating the day-to- day communication of the operational information between the Chief and Texas Cyber Command’s (TXCC) operation elements. Work includes assisting and advising the executive leadership and senior leadership teams in day-to-day cybersecurity-focused operations. Work involves collaborating across the agency to deliver impactful cyber security solutions to governmental entities and critical infrastructure in the state of Texas. This position requires both technical and management skills to track, communicate, and guide activities undertaken at the direction of the Chief and executive leadership team. The Director of Mission Operations is expected to exercise initiative and sound judgment in promoting cybersecurity of state entities specified in HB150 and TXCC’s mission and vision and in championing efficient and effective work processes.
Essential Job Duties
- Works closely with the TXCC Chief to set and drive the day-to-day organizational vision and cybersecurity operations that prevent and respond to malicious cyber activities directed at the state of Texas.
- Design and implement business processes that promote efficient communication across mission-focused elements of TXCC.
- Ensure all programs are executed in accordance with legislative mandates, state policies, and budgetary constraints while maintaining transparency to the public.
- Monitors progress in the agency and its components executing the agency's day-to-day operations; convenes periodic progress reviews and reports for the leadership team on forward progress and obstacles.
- Presents information to staff and external audiences through formal presentations and training courses.
- Prepares and reviews reports as part of the process of monitoring and communicating performance results.
- May interact with other government agencies, universities, and other entities with which the agency interacts.
- Reviews the annual work plan and project objectives, including budgets and deliverables.
- Coordinates regulatory and administrative projects as required.
- Assists in developing office-wide policies and procedures as needed.
