Family Support Practitioner

Role: Family Support Practitioner

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum (pro-rata for part time hours)

Location: Derby, Derbyshire. Our office is based in Cromford.

Contract/Hours: This is a fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover for an approximate period of 12 months (subject to variation depending on the needs of the business), working 37 hours a week Full Time or Part Time hours are available as a job-share.

A bit about the role

Space 4 U is a specialist service working with children and young people aged 5-18 years living in Derbyshire, who are impacted by someone else's substance misuse. We offer 1:1 intervention to the children and young people we support based on an assessment of need. We also offer some group work.

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will provide support to children, young people, and families by agreeing and directly delivering interventions to enable positive and agreed outcomes to be achieved, in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team working across Derbyshire. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and personal development within a supportive team.

You'll make a difference by:

  • Working in the team to deliver the interventions children and families.
  • Working collaboratively with parents/carers and children.
  • Providing children and families with information and skills to help them support their needs through a variety of challenges.
  • Empowering families to make positive changes.

Let's talk about you.

  • Previous experience working with children aged 5 to 18 and families.
  • NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience to demonstrate your commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Confidence to conduct 1-2-1 sessions and group work.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to be part of a team and multi-agency working.
  • Flexibility as some occasional evening and weekend work is required.
  • Access to a transport is essential as you'll need to be able to travel to schools, homes, and other settings across Derbyshire.
