Position description:
The Design/Modelling and Detailing Engineer for Steel Bridge Fabrication will be responsible for the detailed design, drafting, and engineering of steel bridges. This role involves preparing fabrication and erection drawings, ensuring compliance with design codes and standards, and coordinating with structural engineers, fabricators, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge design, steel detailing, and knowledge of fabrication processes to ensure that designs are both feasible and cost- effective.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and Detailing:
- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, including but not limited to assembly drawings, part drawings, and connection details for steel bridge components (e.g., girders, beams, trusses, etc.).
- Review and interpret bridge drawings to develop accurate and efficient fabrication drawings.
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD /Tekla software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Revit).
- Develop and implement innovative design solutions while ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
- BOQ /BOM preparation, preparation of Files for cutting Departments.
- Drawing Templets preparation.
- Checking of Fabrication drawings with reference to structural drawing requirements.
- Verify BOM, Reports & Quantities for correctness.
Fabrication and Erection Coordination:
- Collaborate with the fabrication and erection teams to resolve any issues related to design, materials, and assembly during the fabrication process.
- Ensure that designs are optimized for ease of fabrication, transportation, and assembly on-site.

Review fabrication drawings to ensure they meet the required standards, and resolve any discrepancies or challenges during production.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

Ensure that designs and drawings meet quality standards and adhere to all relevant regulations and codes.
- Conduct periodic site visits (if necessary) to review the progress of fabrication and installation, and to identify and address potential design-related challenges.
- Review material specifications and support procurement activities.

Collaboration & Reporting:

Work closely with project managers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and material procurement schedules based on detailed designs.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and progress reports for internal and client use.

Strong knowledge of structural steel design, including connections, joints, and load-bearing components.
Proficiency in steel detailing and fabrication processes.
Familiarity with the latest bridge design software and 3D modelling tools.
Good understanding of bridge inspection and maintenance requirements.
