Job Summary:| Adjoint Instructors in the Department of Pediatrics –
Section of Emergency Medicine are Hourly Faculty that work at Children's
Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and its Network of Care (NOC) in emergency or urgent
care settings. They provide medical care to acutely ill and injured infants,
children, and adolescents in our 24/7 and afterhours network of
emergency/urgent care facilities. In this role, they perform history and
physical examinations to define and execute appropriate workup that leads to
diagnosis, treatment, and disposition. Work in this setting requires
technical and procedural skills and provision of procedural sedation and may
require pediatric resuscitation and advanced life support. In addition,
Adjoint Faculty are involved with institutional quality and patient safety
improvement initiatives and development of clinical care guidelines that aim
to provide consistent, quality care throughout our institution, and are core
members of the clinical Pediatric teaching staff for Department of Pediatrics
in the School of Medicine Please see Requisition #40705 for Full-Time
Position. Key Responsibilities: · Provide clinical coverage in a
mixed shift model (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) for a 24/7
Emergency care network. Ability to cover shifts at all sites, including
Colorado Springs, is required.· Clinical responsibilities include
Pediatric urgent and emergency care:o Pediatric observation unit medicineo
Rotating sick-call (Jeopardy) coverage· Attendance and participation
in section wide meetings is required. Attendance at Morbidity and Mortality
Conference, CME and local site meetings is recommended, but
voluntaryMaintenance of skills required for provision of high quality, patient
centered, safe urgent/emergent care of children.

hospital beds (16 PICU, 50 NICU, and 49 medicine/ surgery). We have a growing
number of subspecialty services available to provide topnotch pediatric care –
both inpatient and outpatient.
Qualifications:| Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must meet
minimum qualifications at the time of hire. · Doctor of Medicine or
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree· Completion of accredited
residency in Pediatrics or combined Medicine-Pediatrics· Board
Certified or eligible in Pediatrics· Active certification in Pediatric
Advanced Life Support· Active Colorado Medical License· Active
Colorado State DEA license Preferred Qualifications: · Two or
more years of experience in pediatric acute care environment (OR completion of
a Pediatric Residency program with significant experience in Urgent Care and
electives and/or extra-clinical activities that demonstrate interest in and
preparedness for pediatric urgent care)· Experience teaching medical
students and residents.· Experience supervising/collaborating with
Advanced Practice Providers· Prior use of EPIC Knowledge, Skills
and Abilities :*Knowledge
- Initial interpretation of plain radiographs
- Laceration repair (including vermillion border and nail bed repair
- Incision and drainage
