Quality Welding Inspection Specialist

at Acoustical Sheetmetal

  • A trained Quality Control Weld Inspection Specialist will conduct inspections of In-Process Checklists (as notified by manufacturing teams at specified QC Stop Points, specific to each checklist and manufacturing process). These In-Process Checklists will be inspected for completion up to the point of the QC Stop Point to ensure that all steps prior are completed and documented fully and then dated, initialed, signed, and stamped.
  • In conjunction with the In-Process Checklist inspection, the product will be inspected at the same time as the QC Stop Point to ensure that the process items signed off on the checklist have been accurately performed on the product itself and vice versa. These production process items will be inspected against the latest engineering drawing revision that has been issued to the production floor.
  • A trained Quality Control Weld Inspection Specialist will perform continuous spot checks of all products at all stages of production when not performing In-Process Checklist inspections to ensure that a constant presence from the Quality Department exists to observe, highlight, and notify the appropriate parties of any manufacturing deficiencies that may occur.
  • In the event a manufacturing deficiency occurs that warrants further attention, an RCA investigation, and a Corrective Action (ie: product being manufactured deviates from the customer approved drawing) then the QC Technician will issue a Non-Conformity Report (NCR) and assign a champion responsible for completing the NCR form.
  • The above job duties will be carried out, utilizing the weld experience and expertise, by the Weld Inspection Specialist, to create a mentorship type atmosphere, guiding the welders as to correct their process deficiencies (machine settings, angle of weld gun, gas flow rate, wire speed, etc.) and verify that the repairs necessary are carried out, to internal, external, and regulatory weld specification(s) and in a timely manner.
  • This role will see the Weld Inspection Specialist focus primarily on the assembly processes of tanks, frames, enclosures, tank finishing, and correction of defects across all processes that primarily utilize welding.
