Technical Writer

Overview

Location: Primarily Remote; Occasional onsite days in Downtown Pittsburgh, PA

Job Type: Contract, with possible Contract to Hire

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card

The A.C.Coy Company has an immediate need for a contract Technical Writer. This individual will provide interim technical writing support within a busy technology department, ensuring prompt turnaround of tickets and requests for technical writing/editing or IT documentation assistance.

Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in Technical Writing and a strong background in IT terminology and documentation for work instructions, process documentation, and creating easy-to-understand user guides for non- technical readers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update existing policies and procedures documents
  • Utilize SharePoint to support warehousing of all documents, reports, and artifacts
  • Develop training materials including 'how-to' guides, slide decks, interactive online training, and other instruction for a non-technical audience
  • As needed, attend IT leadership meetings to capture or edit meeting minutes and document action items
  • Gather, collate, and organize all technical material to build comprehensive reports for various levels of management within the organization.
  • Provide current documentation, revision histories, and tracking information to support Audit activities
  • Update templates
  • Review documentation and provide editorial feedback to ensure format, style, voice, and clarity guidelines are met
  • Work with SMEs to research, gather, and document process and procedures for the Technical Operations group
  • Verify accuracy of documentation

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience, with at least 1 year of exposure to IT documentation and reference materials
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with O365 and especially Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to distill complex technical content in a clear and concise manner
  • Any experience developing online training content
  • Strong attention to detail; Commitment to responsiveness; Accountable and available when working remotely

Preferred:

  • Any experience with MS Visio
  • Hands on experience with Service Now, or any other IT ticketing system
