Manager - HSE

Managing activities in a manner designed to responsibly minimize HSE risks to a level which is As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP).

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for day-to-day enforcement of the integrated health, Safety and Environment Management System (IHSEMS) in Zayed Port.

  • Establish and manage HSE objectives, annual action plan, HSE budget, training plan, HSE performance monitoring, Waste Management program, incident and accident reporting and other administrative activities related to HSE department.

  • Manage Port’s HSE activities in a manner designed to responsibly minimize HSE risks to a level which is As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP).

  • Provide assistance and guidance with regards to HSE aspects and support company divisions to conduct their Business Impact Assessment and develop business continuities strategies and recovery plans.

  • Support the enforcement of Crisis and Emergency Response services and manage the execution of emergency drills and evacuation exercises and monitor carrying out anticipated corrective actions.

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure implement HSE initiatives and achieve HSE targets while ensuring compliance with national and international regulations, standards, code of practices and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the port to maintain safe working environment to sustain positive HSE culture and behavior.

  • Enforce to conduct incidents and near misses investigation and maintain accurate records.

  • Monitoring Zayed Port HSE Performance and submit HSE performance reports to Terminal Manager and Senior Management and relevant authorities to support business choices.

  • People Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong and visionary leadership, superv

ision, and guidance to the team, setting clear expectations and creating a culture of accountability.

  • Ensure a balanced workload distribution among team members, preventing burnout and promoting pro

uctivity.

  • Identify skill gaps and training requirements for the teams to ensure consistent high performance.

  • Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Assist Management and Employ

ees of Zayed Port in implementing Management of Change, Contractor Management, Risk Management and other HSE procedures which may impact the business and to fulfill the legal requirements.

  • Assist Terminal Manger, Port Management and all employees under management control in planning and implementing new and existing HSE procedures.

  • Analyze available HSE data to identify possible sources of losses experienced, determining critical factors prior to occurrence, and recommend alternative adjustments to eliminate or minimize losses or negative environmental impacts.

  • Manage and Lead HSE internal and external auditing program, ensuring that audits are satisfactorily completed and that follow up actions are initiated.

Educational and Technical Qualifications:|

  • Bachelor's degree in HSE, Maritime or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Preferred certificates:
    • NEBOSH General Certificate
    • HSE achievement certificate
    • AD EHS Practitioner Certificate
    • Valid Lead Auditor Certificate in OHSAS 18001/ ISO 14001.
    • Valid certificate of COSHH, Advance First Aid, HSE Risk Management, Control of Major Accident Hazards

Years of Experience:|

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role

Nature of Experience:|

  • Familiarity with International HSE Regulations is a minimum requirement.
  • Experience in HSE & Emergency management
  • Professional outlook on situation, hardworking, loyal and committed to fulfil the strategic objectives of Abu Dhabi Ports.
  • Excellent working knowledge of appropriate ports regulations, Harbors, shipping and other activities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performance teams.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to identify and address complex challenges and opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in creating and implementing programs focused on HSE.
