Senior Product Development Quality Engineer

at 3D Systems

What We Are Looking For

As a Senior Development Quality Engineer, you will act as the lead quality engineer and technical authority on our most complex new product development and contract manufacturing programs for aerospace, industrial, and semiconductor applications. You will own customer-facing quality relationships, set inspection strategy from engineering definition through production, and drive programs to completion through disciplined project management and structured problem solving. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; you will lead through technical authority, influence, and mentorship. The role reports to the Development Quality Engineering Manager. We’re seeking someone who doesn’t just ensure quality—but elevates it—bringing curiosity, leadership, and a drive to leave every program better than they found it.

  • Perform contract and purchase order reviews, and interpret and ensure the flow-down of customer, regulatory, and engineering requirements into internal processes, supplier requirements, and inspection plans.
  • Apply strong GD&T expertise (ASME Y14.5) to interpret engineering drawings and product manufacturing information (PMI), identify critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics, and establish inspection methods, plans, and acceptance criteria based on those GD&T CTQs.

  • Define, track, and drive cost-of-poor-quality (CoPQ) metrics, using them to prioritize improvement efforts.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee risk management activities, including process and design risk assessments (PFMEA/DFMEA) and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Influence product and process design for inspectability and manufacturability, and help transition programs from development infrastructure into true production.
