We are looking for a Social Media Marketing Intern who is passionate about using their skills to help share impactful stories, support outreach efforts, and promote our programs to the broader community.

Summary

AbilityFirst’s Internship program is a unique opportunity for current participants at our sights to gain real-world experience within the Communications Department.

This internship is a great opportunity for a motivated college student pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. to gain practical experience in a dynamic nonprofit setting. Interns will work directly with the Marketing and Communications Manager and communications staff to support storytelling, content creation, and community engagement initiatives.

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, hard-working, and creative. They will demonstrate a professional demeanor, work well with others, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Interns are expected to be able to commute to the various AbilityFirst Locations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Assist in drafting and editing content for social media
  • Help collect, organize, and share participant stories in a respectful and impactful way
  • Conduct research on communications strategies, media trends, and outreach best practices
  • Engage online community, explore social media partnership opportunities, and respond to messages
  • Review and report on key metrics for social media
  • Support the coordination and promotion of events and campaigns
  • Assist with digital and print outreach materials
  • Take and organize photos or videos from events and activities (as permitted)
  • Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across all platforms
  • Provide administrative support to the communications and development teams as needed
  • Maintain organized digital files of media assets and communications materials
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization
