Job Summary:| A core mission of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is to carry out cutting- edge basic, translational, and clinical research and train the next generation of scientists.Dr. Kvaratskhelia’s laboratory is currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic post-doc to work on the NIH funded research focusing on antiviral mechanisms of action of next generation HIV-1 inhibitors and virus- host interactions. These studies will be conducted using state-of-the-art BSL-2 and -3 facilities, which are fully equipped to carry out cutting-edge virology studies. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will have access to a wide variety of research core facilities located within University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Furthermore, Division of Infectious Diseases provides highly collaborative environment, which will allow the postdoctoral fellow to integrate in a wide community of virologists and clinicians.Key Responsibilities:[1st area of responsibility, 80% time]
- Conduct virology assays with HIV-1 and other retroviruses including preparation of virus stocks, infection of target cells, quantitative analyses of HIV-1 replication intermediates;
- Assay antiviral activities of new HIV-1 inhibitors; investigate their mechanism(s) of action;
- Investigate drug-resistance mechanisms of clinically relevant HIV-1 variant;
- Study virus-host interactions using siRNA and shRNA-mediated knockdown of the cellular proteins of interest, proximity ligation assays, confocal microscopy, immunoblotting.
[2nd area of responsibility, 20 % time]:
- Summarize, interpret and communicate experimental results;
- Write scientific papers for peer-reviewed journals;
- Present research findings at national meetings and conferences;
- Initiate and maintain relationships with collaborators, including coordination of experimental work;
- Assist Dr. Kvaratskhelia in preparation of grant applications.

Qualifications:| Minimum Qualifications:*
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD or MD/PhD.
- Minimum of 4-year(s) experience in research, including the degree years.
- Experience in performing virology experiments, analyzing experimental results, and preparing draft manuscripts.
