*Job Summary:*| Join the University of Colorado School of Medicine as we launch a new Endocrinology clinic serving the South Region. This is a unique opportunity to help build a program from the ground up and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients living with diabetes. As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), you will play a vital role in empowering patients to successfully manage their condition through education, coaching, and individualized care plans. You will work alongside a collaborative team of endocrinologists, nurses, and clinical staff in a patient-centered environment focused on improving outcomes and delivering exceptional care. Key Responsibilities:
- Provides comprehensive diabetes self-management education and training to patients with diabetes and their families using curriculum approved by the American Diabetes Association.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary diabetes care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Reinforces diabetes education and evidence-based practices with nursing staff and other clinical support personnel to promote consistent, high-quality patient care.
- Develops, maintains, and distributes diabetes education materials for patients, families, and the community.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Thrives in a fast-paced environment, prioritizes competing demands effectively, and takes appropriate action to support safe, high-quality patient care.

*Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications:*
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Dietetics.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Three (3) years of experience as an RN or Dietitian.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
- Epic, Kronos, and Healthstream experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future.
- Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Dietitian (RD).
- CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) as defined by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) or board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) by the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross healthcare provider level CPR certification.
- Complies with applicable University of Colorado School of Medicine, Community Practice mandatory education and training.
- Maintains all required licensures and certifications for the position.
- Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout.

Anticipated Pay Range:| The starting salary range (or hiring range)
for this position has been established as $40,762 to $54,621(calculated
for 0.5 FTE)*. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible
compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for
overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes
