We are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up II with strong expertise in Swiss-style CNC machines to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing Swiss CNC machines to ensure efficient production of high-precision components. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of CNC set-up experience , strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Location:
- Temporary: West Chicago, IL - 741 Winston St., West Chicago, IL
- Permanent: Northbrook, IL - 2501 Sanders Road, Northbrook, IL
- Planned relocation: Summer 2026
Shift Hours:
- 1st Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform full machine set-ups on Swiss-style CNC machines , including tooling, offsets, and program verification

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD &T specifications

Load and edit CNC programs as needed to ensure proper machine operation

Install and align tooling, fixtures, and materials to meet part specifications

Conduct first-piece inspections and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools

Troubleshoot machine issues and make adjustments to maintain production efficiency and part quality

Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and operators to improve processes and reduce downtime

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards

Support training and guidance for CNC operators or less experienced set-up technicians

Maintain accurate documentation for set-ups, tooling, and process adjustments
Required Qualifications
-
8+ years of CNC machine set-up experience , with significant experience on Swiss-style machines

Strong ability to read technical drawings and GD &T
-
Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators)

Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment

Ability to perform complete machine set-ups with minimal supervision

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Swiss machines such as Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or similar

Familiarity with high-precision or medical device manufacturing

Experience editing CNC programs (Fanuc or similar controls)

Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally

Manual dexterity to handle small precision parts and tools
