What Drives Success

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer I will be responsible for supporting purchasing activities related to materials, supplies, and services required for manufacturing operations. This role will perform a variety of routine and low-dollar purchasing tasks while supporting supplier relationships, procurement processes, and operational needs to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing solutions.

The Buyer I will partner closely with suppliers, internal departments, and cross-functional teams to support purchasing initiatives, maintain supplier performance, and contribute to overall operational efficiency through effective procurement practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing & Procurement Support:
    • Review purchase requisitions and place orders with approved suppliers in accordance with company policies and operational requirements.
    • Support the procurement of materials, supplies, and services needed to maintain business operations.
    • Monitor purchase orders and follow up on all awards through order completion to ensure timely delivery and resolution of issues.
  • Supplier Management & Negotiation:
    • Participate in supplier negotiations related to pricing, delivery, quality, and service expectations.
    • Evaluate bids and quotations as needed to support purchasing decisions.
    • Select or recommend suppliers based on business needs, pricing, quality, and service considerations.
    • Assist with supplier relationship management to support continuity of supply and operational performance.
  • Data Analysis & Administrative Support:
    • Assist in negotiations for major purchases by compiling statistical information, gathering supporting data, and preparing purchasing documentation.
    • Maintain accurate purchasing records and support reporting requirements as needed.
    • Analyze purchasing information to support decision-making and procurement activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with internal departments, including Accounting, to resolve supplier invoice questions and purchasing discrepancies.
    • Partner with operations and other functional teams to support purchasing requirements and ensure alignment with business needs.
    • Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding order status, delivery schedules, and purchasing activities.
  • Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
    • Support purchasing process improvements that enhance efficiency, service, and cost management.
    • Ensure purchasing activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
    • Contribute to a collaborative and customer-focused purchasing environment through effective communication and teamwork.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with computerized procurement systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Access preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate negotiation skills
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Developing competence in computerized procurement systems
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

What We Offer

Compensation : This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $53,500 - $70,500 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

Benefits : Subject to applicable eligibility requirements, the following benefits are offered for this role: tuition reimbursement; medical, dental, and vision insurance; prescription drug coverage; 401(k) retirement plan; short-term disability insurance; 8 weeks paid birthing leave; 2 weeks paid bonding leave; life and long-term disability insurance.

Depending on date of hire, and subject to applicable eligibility requirements, new employees in this role also receive up to: 12 days paid time off, 2 paid well-being days, 1 paid volunteer day, 12 paid holidays, and 3 floating holidays per year.
