HumeLink West Project
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 130kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
The Civil Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and administrative coordination for the design, supply, construction and testing of the project. The primary challenges of this position are to ensure the project is completed in a safe, cost effective and timely manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client. Responsibilities will focus on projects with earth works, in-ground services and civil structures.
What will a day look like in this role
• Liaise with subcontractors to ensure job is constructed to the technical,
quality and customer requirements
• Ensure that the survey of installations throughout the project is
conducted in a professional manner with all results being reviewed and
accepted as correct with actions coordinated and documented.
• Liaise with Construction Manager to ensure job is on schedule
• Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated
civil/structural subcontractors and suppliers.
• Provide engineering advice for subcontractors/suppliers
• Assist the Project Manager in preparation of monthly reports and also
attend the monthly report meetings

What would we expect you to bring to the team
• Civil Engineering Qualification
• Significant engineering experience throughout, design, construction and
commissioning on Brownfields and Greenfields projects.
• Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation
and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working
relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and
externally.
• Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
