Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

REPORTS TO:

Foreman / Superintendent

DUTIES

• Applies paint, varnishes and stains and removes and mixes paint. Also maintains painting on buildings and woodwork.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the painting field.

• Has knowledge of commonly used materials and supplies.

• Works under minimum supervision. Requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude.

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Performs a variety of complicated tasks related to preparation and finish work.

• Requires excellent communication skills (written / verbal / reading).

• Able to lift and hold / move 100 pounds.

• Able to climb ladders (up and down including extension ladder), scaffolding and roofs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of on concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS:

• Working knowledge and experience with project plans, specifications, construction industry standards and building codes.
