Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer is a dynamic, results-oriented professional responsible for driving business growth in assigned territories within the water industry (pumps, motors, and controls). The role encompasses prospecting and developing client portfolios, providing specialized technical advice, structuring competitive commercial proposals, and ensuring customer satisfaction across industrial, commercial, agroindustrial, and distribution segments.
The role is guided by five keys to success: Quality, Availability, Service, Innovation, and Cost — and is expected to build strong customer relationships, manage distribution channels, and achieve regional targets while adhering to compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
A. Commercial & Sales Management
• Prospect and develop a robust client portfolio across assigned
territories.
• Manage and grow the existing client portfolio through periodic review
and targeted action.
• Conduct client visits to promote products, identify needs, and close
sales.
• Prepare detailed, competitive technical and commercial proposals
(quotations) aligned with client requirements and budget.
• Follow up on quotations and process purchase orders.
• Negotiate effectively using ROI-based and durability arguments to
handle objections.
• Collect accounts receivable from the managed client portfolio.
B. Technical Advisory & Customer Service
• Translate engineering specifications (machinery, irrigation,
automation, etc.) into tangible economic and productive benefits for the
client.
• Visit farms, plants, and worksites to diagnose the client's
operational environment and recommend the right solution.
• Conduct product training, field tests, and demonstrations for
distributors, clients, and end-users.
• Coordinate post-sale activities: delivery, installation, repairs, and
warranty management.
• Resolve customer issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction and
loyalty.
• Provide technical assistance and after-sales support.
C. Distribution & Supply Chain
• Develop a network of distributors and partners to ensure product
availability across the region.
• Monitor supply chain performance and coordinate with logistics teams
to minimize lead times.
• Manage inventory oversight to prevent product shortages.
• Coordinate delivery timelines and logistics with internal teams.
D. Market Development & Intelligence
• Research and analyze trends, opportunities, and threats in assigned
territories (Mexico: Yucatan Peninsula & Bajio; Guatemala; CDMX).
• Conduct competitive analysis and monitor price fluctuations and
competitor movements.
• Expand the company's market presence and brand recognition in target
regions.
E. Reporting, CRM & Metrics
• Maintain an updated CRM system with visit notes, project phases, and
relevant client data.
• Prepare detailed reports on territory performance: sales, forecasts,
and customer feedback.
• Measure and track KPIs aligned with the five keys to success.
• Monitor financial performance including revenues and expenses.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Scholarship: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
Experience: 1–3 years in the water industry or related technical field (pumps, motors, controls, agro-industry equipment). Entry-level profiles with strong interest in sales will also be considered.**
Technical Skills**
• Strong understanding of water systems, pumps, motors, and control technologies.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and basic electricity; ability to read technical specifications and catalogs.
• Proficiency in market analysis, competitive intelligence, and product positioning.
• Ability to prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Soft Skills & Competencies

• Excellent bilingual communication skills (Spanish required; English
highly valued).
