Short Description| Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a Community Health Centre that aims to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which diverse individuals, families and communities can achieve health with dignity. This is a paid summer internship ideal for students working towards a degree, diploma, or certificate in the non- profit, community service sector, or other related disciplines.
NOTE: To be eligible to apply for this position you must :
- Be between 15 - 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
NOTE : As per the Canada Summer Jobs 2026 Applicant Guide - International students are not eligible participants.
- International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada

Detailed Description| Responsibilities:Working closely with the
Volunteer Program Lead, the Volunteer Engagement Worker will :
- Assist with the development and implementation of a volunteer engagement strategy
- Support CRM-based engagement activities by getting volunteers familiar with their portals
- Assist with the development of an engagement strategy and drive the promotional activities for Access Alliance's Volunteer Program
- Help facilitate the on-boarding processes for new volunteers
- Provide support to new volunteers when carrying out volunteering activities
- Assist with general administrative work, data entry, data migration, etc.
- Assist with following up, compiling information and data for reports
Skills And Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in joining a community-based organization serving newcomer, immigrant, refugee, and non-status peoples
- Some experience working within the Volunteering/Non-Profit sector, as a volunteer, placement student, or intern an asset
- Currently working towards a career in community social service or a related discipline an asset
- Commitment to work from an integrated anti-oppression framework
- Willingness to learn about social determinants of health impacting newcomers
- Strong interest in researching and identifying the barrier to participation faced by newcomer community residents
- Familiar with the neighbourhoods surrounding our west and east end hubs
- Proactive communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter, detailed oriented, independent, and able to work as part of a team
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Comfortable creating and posting content to our social media platforms using Canva;
- A second language is an asset
- Able to work 1-2 evening shifts as required
Salary: $18.60 per hour Hours: 35 per weekLocation: 340 College St., Suite 500Bargaining Unit: This position is excluded from the bargaining unit. Mandatory Dates:
