This position will be responsible fir executing physical natural gas transactions in support of client gas generation assets. Primary responsibilities include procuring natural gas for electric power generation, scheduling natural gas, and managing natural gas imbalances.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily implementation of physical gas procurement and scheduling.
- Work within ACES for an integrated management of client wholesale energy portfolio positions.
- Manage daily positions and transactions within risk limits and authority matrix.
- Manage gas imbalances with the pipelines and within predetermined limits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with gas and fuels trade counterparties.
- Assist in the set up of NAESBs and work closely with internal groups until completion
- Develop appropriate data, market intelligence and analysis to advise clients and ACES.
- Attend client meetings and conference calls as required.
- Provide after-hours, weekends and holiday coverage as required in addition to the normal daily work schedule.
- Adhere to all ACES corporate policies and comply with all ACES regulatory requirements, including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations, as applicable to this position.
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- 5 years or more experience in natural gas or power operations.
- Ability to work as an individual contributor and considered the expert on gas.
- Knowledge of energy commodities and relationships between fuels and power products.
- Fully competent in the procurement and optimization of natural gas assets including transportation and storage
- Strong competence in commercial relationships with clients and counterparties.
- High degree of analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills especially with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be on-call after normal hours for time-sensitive gas supply management actions.
- Ability to travel to industry events and client meetings periodically.
- Ability to mentor junior traders
