Position Overview
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for independently reviewing client
financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, and related
management reports, while evaluating the effectiveness of process controls and
identifying key financial and operational risks. The role will support audit
readiness, control enhancement, process maturity, and quality of financial
reporting across client delivery operations.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Audit & Client Financial Statement Review · Review client Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, trial balances, and related reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness. · Perform account-level and variance-based review of key financial statement balances, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, intercompany, revenue, expenses, and other material captions. · Validate supporting schedules, working papers and audit evidence to ensure financial reporting packs are appropriately documented and audit ready. · Identify unusual movements, ageing exposures, unreconciled balances, and potential reporting gaps, and follow up with relevant process owners for closure. · Conduct internal audit reviews, evidence collation, and query resolution. · Prepare clear audit observations, exception summaries and actionable recommendations for leadership and client stakeholders. 2. Process & Operational Review · Evaluate existing finance and accounting processes to identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, handoff issues, and documentation weaknesses. · Review end-to-end process flows across month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L; review, reporting, approvals, journal entries, and client deliverables. · Assess whether process activities are performed in line with agreed SOPs, client requirements, accounting principles, and internal governance expectations. · Recommend practical controls, maker-checker mechanisms, exception trackers, and review routines to strengthen operational discipline. · Support implementation of appropriate controls and monitor closure of audit actions with process owners and delivery leaders. · Contribute to standardized templates, audit checklists, control matrices, and process documentation for repeatable audit execution. 3. Risk Analysis & Control Improvement · Identify, assess, and priorities key financial, operational, compliance and reporting risks across client processes. · Perform root-cause analysis for recurring errors, audit issues, client escalations, and reporting delays. · Develop risk mitigation plans with clearly defined owners, target dates, control actions, and status tracking. · Maintain audit issue logs, control improvement trackers, and risk registers for leadership review. · Escalate significant control failures, repeat exceptions or unresolved high-risk items in a timely and structured manner. 4. Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership · Work closely with finance operations teams, delivery leaders, client-facing teams, and other stakeholders to obtain required information and drive action closure. · Provide guidance to process teams on audit expectations, documentation standards, and control discipline. · Build a constructive audit culture by balancing independence, professional challenge, and practical business understanding. · Support leadership with dashboard-ready summaries of findings, trends, repeat issues, and control improvement progress. - Stakeholder confidence: Positive feedback from delivery leadership, client-facing teams and auditors on audit support and reporting quality.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, balance sheet reconciliation, and P&L; analysis.
- Ability to review financial reporting packs, identify anomalies and ask relevant audit questions.
- Good knowledge of internal controls, process risks, audit testing, evidence documentation, and issue reporting.
- Comfortable working with large data sets, reconciliations, Excel-based review files, and client reporting formats.
- Strong analytical thinking, professional skepticism, and attention to detail.
- Clear written communication skills for preparing audit observations, executive summaries, and action trackers.
- Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge constructively and follow up for closure.
- High ownership, confidentiality, integrity, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- CA / Inter CA /ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in internal audit, external audit, financial controls, finance operations, risk advisory, or F&A; process review.
- Experience in KPO, shared services, property management accounting, real estate accounting, client accounting, or outsourced finance operations will be an advantage.
- Prior exposure to audit coordination, balance sheet review, month-end close controls, and process documentation preferred.
- Advanced MS Excel skills expected; experience with Power BI, audit tools, ERP/accounting systems, or workflow platforms will be an added advantage.
