Emergency Veterinary Technician

Doral Centre Animal Hospital is actively hiring an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our growing overnight team.

Our recently expanded facility serves pets throughout the greater Miami area, providing advanced Emergency and Critical Care services in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

Overnight Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Rotating weekends and holidays required.

What You'll Do

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician , you will play a critical role in patient stabilization, treatment, monitoring, and recovery.

Emergency and Critical Care

  • Triage incoming emergency patients
  • Assist with stabilization and life-saving interventions
  • Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients
  • Perform CPR and emergency response procedures
  • Administer medications and fluid therapy

Technical Skills

  • IV catheter placement
  • Venipuncture and sample collection
  • Radiology and diagnostic imaging
  • Laboratory testing and patient monitoring
  • Medical record documentation

Anesthesia and Surgical Support

  • Assist with anesthesia induction and intubation
  • Monitor patients during procedures
  • Support emergency surgical cases
  • Provide post-operative patient care

Client Communication

  • Provide compassionate updates and education to pet owners
  • Partner with veterinarians to ensure continuity of care
  • Deliver exceptional client service during stressful situations

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, patient restraint, medication administration, and laboratory sample collection
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced Emergency environment
  • Excellent communication and client service skills

Preferred

  • Experience in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Urgent Care, Specialty Medicine, or High-Volume General Practice
  • CVT, LVT, or RVT credential
  • Experience with emergency triage, ICU patients, anesthesia monitoring, surgery, trauma, and CPR

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and restrain patients throughout a 12-hour shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance
  • Exposure to animal dander, fur, saliva, urine, feces, blood, cleaning products, disinfectants, fragrances, and veterinary-related odors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying noise levels and frequent interruptions

What We Offer

Compensation

  • Veterinary Assistants: $20–$25/hour
  • Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT): $20–$30/hour
  • Overnight Shift Differential: Additional $2/hour beginning at 12:00 AM
