Firearms Records Bureau Coordinator PCI

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist licensees with the creation of accounts and account maintenance on the MIRCS licensing Portal.
  2. Monitor and maintain MIRCS serial number registry.
  3. Prepare and review incoming non-resident firearms license applications.
  4. Schedule and complete in-person interviews for non-resident firearms license applications.
  5. Perform criminal record checks.
  6. Conduct searches of all appropriate databases for firearm license or transaction information in response to requests from law enforcement agencies and public citizens.
  7. Review criminal record checks of licenses for conformance to state and federal laws.
  8. Perform related duties such as data entry; typing material; operating electronic data systems and applications containing various records and files; and assuring accuracy.
  9. Assist law enforcement agencies and the public by providing information about firearms licensing and firearms law in Massachusetts.
  10. Provide support of the Massachusetts Instant Record Check System (MIRCS) to local law enforcement agencies and firearms dealers.
  11. Review and activation of MIRCS licenses.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of the Firearms Records Bureau.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE:

  1. Ability to communicate ideas clearly to individuals and groups.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in oral or written form.
  3. Strong organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail.
  4. Ability to gather information, analyze data collected, draw and present conclusions in oral or written form.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
  6. Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
