Commissioning (Process) Engineer- Hydrogen Production & Storage Plant

The Commissioning Process Engineer will be responsible for planning,
reviewing, coordinating and executing assigned commissioning activities and
deliverables for a new build hydrogen production and storage facility. The
role will support delivery of the commissioning execution plan to ensure that
all process systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in accordance
with project requirements, client specifications, regulatory standards and
industry best practice.
The successful candidate will report to the commissioning manger and will work
closely with engineering, construction, operations and contractor teams
throughout the commissioning phase to ensure successful delivery and handover
of the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing, reviewing and updating client commissioning procedures, method statements and commissioning documentation.
- Reviewing, commenting upon and approving contractor commissioning procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements and industry standards.
- Verifying commissioning documentation including commissioning packs, check sheets, test records and handover dossiers.
- Supporting systemisation, mechanical completion and turnover activities.
- Coordinating process commissioning activities with engineering, construction, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical disciplines.
- Participating in commissioning risk assessments, work co-ordination, and permit-to-work processes.
- Ensuring commissioning activities comply with applicable health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Supporting functional testing, integrated system testing and plant start-up.
- Identifying commissioning issues and coordinating timely resolution with engineering and construction teams.
- Recording commissioning progress and providing regular reports to the Commissioning Manager.
- Supporting operator training and preparation of operational documentation where required.
- Assisting with performance testing, reliability runs and final plant acceptance.
- Supporting preparation of punch lists and close-out of commissioning actions.
- Ensuring all commissioning records are complete and suitable for project handover.
- Supporting the delivery of the commissioning plans and schedules.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a commissioning role on industrial process plant projects. Experience in an operations engineering role will also be considered.
- Demonstrable experience of commissioning process facilities, preferably within hydrogen, oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial gases, energy, or chemical processing industries.
- Proven experience in reviewing, commenting upon and approving contractor commissioning procedures.
- Proven experience in preparing, reviewing and updating client commissioning procedures and commissioning documentation.
- Experience of working with, or leading, mechanical completion, systemisation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing activities.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating commissioning activities with construction and operations personnel.
- Experience supporting plant start-up and final handover to operations.
