Yard Operator

Overview: ADF International, a North American leader in the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of complex steel structures and modular construction, is seeking a night shift Yard Operator for our steel fabrication plant in Great Falls, Montana. The Yard Operator will operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, and overhead cranes to move materials. Truck driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Relocate materials using a forklift as instructed.
- Load and unload supplies to the required area, and/or load goods onto and off a truck.
- Move material/supplies to a designated storage area or the stockroom.
- Perform routine inspections on all equipment and rigging before use to verify its condition.
- Follow the OSHA safety checklist to make sure brakes, lights, steering, the horn, and other parts of the forklift are working properly.
- Perform tasks using the overhead traveling cranes and/or hoisting gears as needed.
- Maintain situational awareness and always pay close attention to safety.
- Excellent ability to efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment as needed.
- Knowledge of equipment load tolerances, specific requirements, and limits.
- Proficient mathematic and mechanical knowledge.
- Any other duties assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Valid driver's license
- Completion of heavy equipment training preferred
- Truck driving experience is preferred
- 2 or more years of heavy equipment operation or related experience
- Detail-oriented.
- Able to work under strict deadlines and adapt to new/changing processes
- High level of self-motivation
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, snow, rain, sun, etc.)
- Must be willing and able to work the night shift (4:30 pm to 3:00 am)
**Physical Requirements: **
- Must be able to stand/walk for 10 hours at a time.
- Ability to bend, squat, and kneel for varying lengths of time.
- Ability to fully articulate the shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist.
- Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work in various conditions (loud, hot, dusty, cold, etc.).
