The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day execution of security operations and ensuring the organization remains compliant with global and local regulatory standards. This role serves as the primary owner for Identity and Access Management (IAM), the "first responder" for security alerts, and the coordinator for compliance audits. The Cyber Security Analyst monitors systems for suspicious activity and ensures that security controls are functioning effectively to protect the organization’s data.
Key Responsibilities
Security Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor SOC and XDR platforms for suspicious activities and unauthorized access attempts
- Perform first-level incident response, including triage, containment, and escalation of security incidents
- Investigate phishing attempts and suspicious emails reported by employees
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Manage the IAM lifecycle, including regular access reviews and user access governance
- Enforce the Principle of Least Privilege across corporate and cloud-based applications
- Support user lifecycle management and access control processes
Compliance & Security Governance
- Coordinate compliance activities related to ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and local data privacy regulations
- Conduct internal reviews of security controls and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Assist with external audits and regulatory reporting requirements
Vulnerability & Risk Coordination
- Review vulnerability scan results and coordinate remediation efforts with IT teams
- Track patching activities and ensure remediation timelines are met
- Report outstanding security risks and remediation progress
Security Awareness & Documentation
- Conduct security awareness sessions for employees and new hires
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of security policies and procedures
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC), Cybersecurity, or IT Audit role
- Hands-on experience with IAM tools and access management processes
- Experience working within compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or SOC2
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with SIEM and XDR platforms
- Understanding of common cyber threats and attack vectors such as phishing, brute force attacks, and SQL injection
- Knowledge of access control models including RBAC and ABAC
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA Security+
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
- Microsoft SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator
